Dating from the 1940s, this rare Chinese embroidered jacket features figural and floral Peking knot silk embroidered stitches. It is made of a black silk fabric background, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery and Peking knot work. Lavishly lush floral foliage, figural Chinese women, pagoda temples, and boats adorn this beautiful jacket. This exquisitely embroidered quality made jacket has a tapered fit, with long full sleeves, mandarin collar, front pockets, is fully lined, with silk button toggle closures in an alternating black and white. Unlike most chinese jackets of this era which are boxy, this one has a nice fitted shape.
