1920s devoré silk velvet tunic dress featuring a stunning art deco design of sunflowers and spider webs. Also known as "burnout" velvet; devoré velvet originated from France and was all the rage in the 1920s. As you can see in the photos, the fabric features several cut-outs against a chiffon backing. This technique is produced by applying a chemical gel to silk velvet, which eats away at the cellulose-based fibers leaving a lovely velvet pattern behind not affected by the chemical.

This dramatic tunic meets dress is easy to wear, features a hook and eye clasp at right side and snaps at the top right shoulder. Throw this on over a simple top, turtleneck, or a pair of silk trousers. The electric blue fabric is so soft and light - it drapes wonderfully.
